Bita Saleh DDS, CPCC, is a General Dentist, Best-Selling Author, Certified Professional Co-Active® Coach, Business Consultant, Speaker and Mentor.
Dr. Saleh earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1989 from Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC followed by completion of a one-year general practice residency at Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center. She has practiced general dentistry in Orange County, CA for 30 years and was CEO of her privately-owned dental practice from 1991 through 2017.
During her career, Dr. Saleh provided dental care for thousands of patients in multiple settings including hospitals, free clinics, public health screenings and private practices. What she noticed was that many patients were anxious and/or fearful prior to being treated by her. Being extremely compassionate by nature, Dr. Saleh embarked on a personal mission to eliminate dental anxiety, which was preventing so many patients from seeking or accepting necessary treatments, often with catastrophic results for their oral health.Read More
While these fears and anxieties haunted the patients and kept them away from seeking and completing much needed care, she came to realize the damaging effects of such negative feelings and how they impacted the dentists trying to help these patients. Daily feelings of frustration, stress, misunderstandings and not being able to do their best work are common feelings experienced amongst dentists when faced with treating fearful and anxious patients.
Her long-standing interest in complementary and alternative medicine led her to complete a three-year certification in Integrative and Holistic Health (with concentration in Energy Medicine). In addition to her specialty training and her own research, Dr. Saleh created a series of innovative non-pharmaceutical techniques designed to alleviate the problem of dental fear and anxiety for patients and their dentists.
Her research, including an innovative 4-minute protocol for alleviating dental fear and anxiety in patients, was published in the Journal of Energy Psychology and her best-selling book, The Well-Referred Dentist, is the first published book that brings to light the negative impact of dental fear and anxiety on both the patient and the dentist. The Well-Referred Dentist was released as an e-book on Amazon in January 2019 and the paperback is scheduled for release in March 2020.
Based on the step-by-step lessons in her book, she has created The Fearless Way coaching program to teach and certify dentists to alleviate dental fear and anxiety in their practice(s). She is now actively and passionately involved in teaching this program to dentists so they can once again enjoy doing the excellent dentistry they were trained to do without unnecessary stress. This allows them the freedom and space to build trust with their patients, to increase loyalty and, as an added bonus, increase their practices’ profitability.
Thanks to her pioneering use of energy medicine and energy psychology to eliminate patient fears and anxieties, Dr. Saleh is frequently invited to speak. Some of her speaking engagements have included UCLA School of Dentistry and the research symposium of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology.
